Bio and Area of Practice
The Schachte Company, the oldest continuing real estate business in Charleston, was established by Henry Schachte in Charleston in 1881.
Joseph W. Schachte, the great-grandson of Henry Schachte, now owns the practice. For over 35 years, he has been involved in residential and commercial real estate sales, leasing and management throughout the Charleston Metro area. Joe was born and raised in Charleston, completing grammar school at Sacred Heart and high school at Bishop England. He has been a licensed broker in Charleston for almost his entire adult life, beginning his career upon graduation from the University of South Carolina with a BA in History in 1974.
David G. Schachte, Joe's nephew, joined the practice in July of 2002. David was raised in McLean, Virginia and graduated from the prestigious Blue Ridge School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Communications from Jacksonville University in 1997 and joined his parents in their return from the Washington, DC area to the Schachte family's ancestral home in Charleston. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors. David made the TOP TEN for most expensive homes sold in the Charleston metro area in 2009 with the sale of 124 South Battery for $3,000,000.
David specializes in residential real estate and is very successful in using his negotiating and technology skills to help families and individuals find their dream home, or sell their homes for the best possible value.
